RAINY DAY PROJECT
We made this (or, should I say, Mary made this). What's next?! We can't decide what to do with it (it's about 10 x 10)...potholder? Pillow? Look for a tutorial on our "how-to" page, but....we have to finish it first. HELP!!
I'm thinking...if you have the best idea - you can have it! So, comments please!

LOOK WHAT CAME IN TODAY!
All it took was:
A. a giant freight truck with helpful mover & dolly
B. 3 different tools to get the METAL straps that were holding the box together off (the giant industrial wire cutters finally did the trick)
C. a little blood - okay, a lot of blood, but I'll be okay, don't worry
D. the help of a very sweet customer.
And that was just to get the sucker opened.

WHAT DOES YOUR CRAFT SPACE LOOK LIKE?
The good, the bad, and the messy. We want to see it all! Send us a picture of your space and be entered to win a $10 gift certificate to Selvedge. Don't be shy, you are among friends.

This is Bridgett's space - she's one of the lucky ones, with her own sunny corner of the Brunswick Building. (Although I can't say I envy that sewing machine.)

VINTAGE BLISS
As many of you already know, among our many (healthy) addictions is thrifting.
This love has inspired the third Project Selvedge Challenge:
For this challenge designers were asked to embrace the idea of in the old, out with new! Each designer chose a piece from our vintage collection. This fabric needs to be used in their garment for the March 18th Fashion Show. All the other materials must come from Secret Seconds (thanks Betty's Divine for your sponsorship of this!). They also have $10 for notions here at Selvedge to complete their look.
There are 3 lessons that should be learned from this:
1. Come to the show on March 18th at 6:30 here at Selvedge! Sponsored, appropriately, by Upcycled. Not only is upcycling hip and fashionable, but good for the planet (and soul).
2. Check out our awesome collection of vintage fabrics here in the shop (and if you are so unfortunate as to live somewhere else - we are starting an etsy shop and adding new stuff all the time).
3. You can also visit our booth at the Montana Antique Mall! #57

ROSE HEADBANDS:
Thank you Portabellopixie! For a lovely Saturday afternoon, and the pattern for the perfect headband. Straight out of Sandi Henderson's clever book Sewing Bits Pieces (page 154, we've got signed copies here).

WHAT'S YOUR LEAST FAVORITE TREND?
These ladies didn't see it coming as they naively told me the god-honest-truth about what fashion trends they hate the most. Now, they have to embody that hideous look in their next challenge.
Get to know the girls: We asked them some questions 1. What is your least/most favorite trend? 2. What is one word that best describes you? (get your dictionaries out)
Here's what they said:

Here's what they said:

| Nicole hearts: bright blazers hates: fluffy workout suits in one word: gallivant |
![]() |
| Meredith hearts: plaid (because she's secretly a lumberjack) hates: jeggings ("no pockets! useless!") in one word: intrepid |
![]() |
| April hearts: the up-cycling movement & organic fabrics hates: the "only-one-sleeve" trend in one word: inquisitive |
![]() |
| Christina hearts: cowboy boots hates: tights as pants |
![]() |
| Dakota hearts: the old, classic lines of vintage styles hates: skinny jeans with gladiator sandals in one word: Chimera |
![]() |
| Hana hearts: high waisted jeans (and secretly the "mythical jegging") hates: harem pants in one word: supersonic-motivated (it makes more sense with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3nPLoODtGU) |
![]() |
| Olga hearts: high waisted everything hates: sweatpants & pajamas in public (amen!) |
![]() |
| Jen hearts: rescuing horrible things by re purposing them hates: hammer pants & crocks |
What would you be forced to make? We challenge you to give it a shot too!
Next fashion show: March 11th @ 6:30
